As you may have heard on the news recently, information from Mastercard Debit Cards used between the dates of November 27 through December 15th may have been compromised. Information collected may include the name on the card, the card number, the card expiration date, and the CVV (the three digit code on the back of the card).

While there has not been any actual identified fraud due to this compromise, the information stored on the card may allow fraud to happen in the future. To combat this from happening, UBCCU has taken the following steps for all affected cards;

1) Signature based transactions (running the card as credit) will be blocked. When you use your card, you will have to use your PIN number. Because PIN numbers were not exposed, this is the easiest way to keep non-authorized transactions from going through.

2) New Debit Cards and PINs will be issued to each member affected. You should receive your new card and PIN in the mail separately within 7 to 10 business days. Please activate and begin using this new card as soon as you receive both the card and the PIN. Once your new card is activated your current card will be permanently disabled.
Please keep in mind that there is a high volume of cards affected. UBCCU is currently in the process of compiling a list of member cards affected by the compromise, and we will be contacting each member individually. We ask that you be patient while we work to get this situation resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you should see a charge on your account that you do not recognize, please contact the Credit Union as soon as possible to research the charge.

Thank you.
